Department of Psychology is inviting applications for the following positions:

 

Position in Judgment and Decision Making

The Department of Psychology at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning in August, 2010 in the area of Experimental Psychology with an emphasis on Judgment and Decision Making. Successful applicants will be expected to provide instruction and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students and who have a well-developed research agenda. Instructional duties may include on-line instruction and/or instruction at off-campus sites. Scholarly duties include publication, thesis supervision, and a willingness to seek external funding to support research.  This is a 9-month position with opportunities for summer teaching. Appointment is contingent upon completion of all requirements for the doctoral degree in psychology.

Appalachian State University is a member institution of the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina System. Located in Boone, North Carolina, the University has approximately 16,000 students and has been ranked by US News and World Report as one of the top 15 among southern regional universities since 1986. The Department has 33 full-time doctoral level faculty members, approximately 700 undergraduate majors and 80 full-time graduate students in four master’s degree programs and is pursuing permission to plan a Ph.D. program in Rural Clinical Psychology.

    Position in Community Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning in August, 2010 in the area of Community Psychology.  Successful applicants will be expected to provide instruction and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and will have an opportunity to participate in the Department’s internship program. Both the Department and Appalachian State University have substantial relationships with the communities and counties in the area that may be available for community psychology research. 

Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students and who have a well-developed research agenda. Instructional duties may include on-line instruction and/or instruction at off-campus sites. Scholarly duties include publication, thesis supervision, and a willingness to seek external funding to support research.  This is a 9-month position with opportunities for summer teaching. School Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning in August, 2010 in the area of School Psychology. Successful applicants will be expected to provide instruction and mentoring within the School Psychology master’s/specialist program and at the undergraduate level and to collaborate with the four other members of the School Psychology faculty in program planning. Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students and who have a well-developed research agenda. Instructional duties may include on-line instruction and/or instruction at off-campus sites. Scholarly duties include publication, thesis supervision, and a willingness to seek external funding to support research.  This is a 9-month position with opportunities for summer teaching. Appointment is contingent upon completion of all requirements for the doctoral degree in psychology.
